How to apply a crosshair in CS2
- In CS2, open Settings → Game and set Enable Developer Console to Yes.
- Press the ~ (tilde) key in-game to open the console.

What each crosshair setting actually does
A CS2 crosshair is built from a handful of cl_crosshair* console variables. Once you know what each one changes, tuning your own becomes easy:
- cl_crosshairstyle — the master switch.
4is a classic static crosshair (never moves, most popular for aiming),2is classic dynamic (expands when you move/shoot), and1is the old default. - cl_crosshairsize — length of each line. Smaller (1–3) is precise for rifles; larger is easier to see.
- cl_crosshairthickness — how thick the lines are. Most players sit between
0.5and1.5. - cl_crosshairgap — the space in the middle. Negative values tighten it to a near-dot; positive values open it up.
- cl_crosshairdot — adds a centre dot (
1) for a precise aim point. - cl_crosshaircolor —
0red,1green,2yellow,3blue,4cyan, or5for a custom RGB set withcl_crosshaircolor_r/g/b. - cl_crosshair_drawoutline — a black outline so the crosshair stays visible on bright or busy backgrounds.
- cl_crosshair_t — a "T" shape that removes the top line, keeping the exact centre unobstructed.
Popular crosshair styles to start from
- Small static "pro" cross: style 4, size ~2, thickness ~1, gap −2, no dot. The default choice of most tier-1 riflers — tight and precise.
- Centre dot: a single dot (or a small cross with a dot) for players who track a single pixel. Great for AWPers and spray control.
- Classic dynamic: style 2 for newer players who want visual feedback on movement inaccuracy while they learn to stop-and-shoot.
- High-visibility: cyan or a custom pink/green with an outline, sized a little larger — easy to find on any map.
There's no single "best" crosshair — the pros use wildly different setups. Pick something you can see instantly and that doesn't cover the enemy's head at range, then stick with it long enough to build muscle memory. Want to copy an exact pro setup?
