CS2 Premier & CS Rating Explained (2026)
Premier is Counter-Strike 2's flagship competitive mode, and CS Rating is the single number that represents your skill in it. Unlike the old per-map skill groups, CS Rating is one figure you carry across the Active Duty map pool. Here's how the number works and how to move it up.
What is CS Rating?
CS Rating is a numeric skill score, typically ranging from a few thousand up to 30,000+ at the very top. It's displayed with a colored tier band so you can see roughly where you sit at a glance. The higher your rating, the tougher (and more rewarding) your matches.

How rating gains and losses work
Your rating changes after each Premier match based on the result and the relative skill of both teams. Beating a higher-rated team gains you more; losing to a lower-rated team costs you more. Individual performance nudges the number, but wins and losses dominate — this is why playing for the round win matters more than padding kills.
The pick/ban phase
Premier uses a map pick/ban phase before each game, like the pro format. Both teams take turns banning maps from the Active Duty pool until one remains. Knowing two or three maps well is more valuable than being mediocre on all of them.
How to climb CS Rating
- Play consistently — rating rewards steady winning over long sessions, not one lucky game.
- Warm up and control tilt so you don't donate rating on cold or on-tilt games.
- Get cleaner lobbies with Prime and a solid trust factor — fewer griefers means more winnable games.
